Download drum hits from the first all-in-one music production unit, the EMU SP-12 drum machine/sampler, to use in your Logic Pro or Logic Express songs. The hits have been mapped out chromatically on a MIDI keyboard starting from note C1 and all are pitch accurate.
The EMU SP-12 was the first sampler/sequencer/drum machine workstation to act as an all in one production unit. First released in 1985, the SP-12 built on EMU's success with the Drumulator giving users the opportunity to add their own drum sounds and recorded loops. The capacity to record samples was limited in the out-of-the-box SP-12 due to the machine only being shipped with 49 KB of ram. This, however, could be expanded to 192 KB, giving a much longer recording duration of 5 seconds. All of the sounds loaded into the SP-12 could be controlled by the volume faders on the front of the machine. There was no stereo output on the SP-12 although individual outputs for each channel were placed on the back of the unit for mixdown purposes.
The unit was used by artists such as Madlib, Large Professor, Chicago and DJ Premiere.
